Board of Control has selected fourteen players to represent the Windward Islands, at the upcoming Regional Under-19 cricket tournament.

Following conclusion of the 2019 WINLOTT INC Windward Islands Under-19 cricket tournament last Wednesday July 03, 2019, the WICBC Selection Panel, met to choose a squad of 14 players along with four reserves, to compete in the 2019 CWI Regional Under-19 cricket tournament.

Captaining the team this year, is Windies Under-19 and Windies B player, Kimani Melius of Saint Lucia. His deputy is Taj Tavernier who played for the Dominica senior team.

The the rest of the squad is Lincoln Durand, Savio Anslem, and Malakai Xavier from Dominica; Teddy Bishop who played for the Grenada senior team, Seandell Regis, and Ronel Williams from Grenada; Ackeem Auguste who debut this year for the Saint Lucia senior team, and Simeon Gerson from Saint Lucia; and from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Jeheil Walters, Carmalo Cain, and Tijorn Pope.

The Team Manager is Inspector Randel Baptiste of Grenada, while the Coach is Mr. Mervin Thomas of Dominica.

The reserved players are Micka Joseph of Dominica, Tyrel Chicot, and Jaden Elibox from Saint Lucia, and Romando Browne from St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

These fourteen players will have an opportunity to be selected for a Cricket West Indies Under-19 Camp, which will run until August 18, as the regional team prepares to compete in the 2019 ICC Undwer-19 Cricket World Cup.

The 2019 Regional Under-19 tournament is scheduled to be held in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, July 25 – August 11, 2019.

Chasing 189 for victory, St. Vincent and the Grenadines lost an early wicket with the score on 08, but recovered to lose the second at 101. Other wickets fell at 127, 132, 135, and 136, before Cain and Kyle Bobb (14 not out) saw St. Vincent and the Grenadines to the target, reaching 193 for 6, to lift the 2019 WINLOTT INC Windward Islands Under-19 cricket championship.

O-Jay Mathews who chipped in with 33, and Romando Browne 12, were the other batsmen to make notable contributions, with extras totalling 22.

Bowling for Grenada, Kimo Peters took 2 for 14, Sylvon Charles 2 for 41, and Jamie Buddy 1 for 40.

Earlier, having won the toss, Grenada decided to take first knock, and was soon in trouble, losing their first wicket with the score on 01. They lost the other wickets at 62, 76, 77, 131, 153, 156, 164,
188, all out 189.

Seandell Regis made 39, Sunil Narayan 34, and Josh Edmund 33, while extras contributed 27.

Bowling for St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Tijorn Pope took 4 for 39, Donwayne Baptiste 2 for 26, Kyle Bobb 2 for 54, while Solomon Bascombe and O-Jay Mathews took a wicket apiece in the Grenada inning.

ROSEAU, DOMINICA; TUESDAY JULY 02, 2019 – Tomorrow Wednesday July 03, 2019 at the Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica, Grenada will clash with St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the final of the 2019 WINLOTT INC WICBC Under-19 Cricket Tournament.

Also commencing at the same time at Benjamin’s Park, host Dominica and Saint Lucia will meet to decide the third place finish.

These matches were decided following the third round of matches with Grenada finishing top of the table on 15.5 points, St. Vincent and the Grenadines second on 5.9 points, Saint Lucia third on 5.6 points, and Dominica fourth with 5.0 points.

At Benjamin’s Park, Grenada defeated Saint Lucia by 81 runs. Having won the toss, the Grenadians decided to take first knock, racking up 215 for 8 in 50 overs. Seandell Regis top-scored with 66, Teddy Bishop 39, and Divonie Joseph 30, with extras contributing 20.

Grenada lost wickets at 32, 54, 93, 144, 145, 150, 192, 197. The wicket takers for Saint Lucia were Simeon Gerson with 3 for 49, Garvin Serieux 1 for 19, Craig Elisee 1 for 20, and a wicket apiece for Udell Preville and Lee Solomon.

In reply Saint Lucia lost wickets regularly to be all out 134 in 42.4 overs. Wickets fell at 28, 28, 31, 36, 74, 74, 118, 124, 124, all out 134.  Garvin Serieux was left not out on 52, Kimani Melius batting at 3 made 31, and Lee Solomon 19. Extras totalled 08.

Bowling for Grenada, Sylvon Charles took 3 for 19, Jamie Buddy 3 for 21, and Rishaad Daniel 3 for 24. as Grenada won by 81 runs.

Over at Windsor Park, St. Vincent and the Grenadines handed Dominica a 107-run defeat. Having won the toss, Dominica sent the the Vincentians to take first knock who totalled 252 all out in 49.1 overs.

Romando Browne top-scored with 55, Carmalo Cain 50, and Jaheil Walters 40, with 32 extras. Wickets fell at 92, 103, 113, 164, 168, 169, 197, 207, 249, all out 252.

Bowling for Dominica, Malakai Xavier took 3 for 29, Savio Anslem 3 for 32, Shaheim Caesar 2 for 24, and Jedd Joseph 2 for 50.

In response, Dominica 137 for 8 in 20 overs, with extras contributing 27. Taj Tavernier led the Dominican effort with 56, Micah Joseph 25, and Neo Davis 12.

Dominica lost wickets at 01, 01, 12, 72, 94, 109, 130, and 136; Shaheim Caesar did not bat. Kyle Bobb took 2 for 18, Kemron Strough 2 for 29, and a wicket apiece for Tijorn Pope, Romando Browne, and Solomon Bascombe as St. Vincent and the Grenadines won by a massive 107 runs. 

ROSEAU, COMMONWEALTH OF DOMINICA; SUNDAY JUNE 30, 2019 – Hosts Dominica lost to Grenada by 51 runs at Benjamin’s Park, while Saint Lucia bounced back from a previous day loss to defeat St. Vincent and the Grenadines by six wickets at the Windsor Park on Sunday June 30, 2018 as the 2019 WINLOTT Windward Islands Under-19 Cricket Tournament continued.

At Benjamin’s Park, Dominica won the toss and decided to field. Grenada led by Teddy Bishop with 40, totalled 203 all out in 49.4 overs. Over contributors to the total was Seandell Regis 30, Josh Edmund 29,  and Jamie Buddy 21, with 18 extras made of 4 byes, 1 leg-bye, 12 wides, and 1 no-ball.

Bowling for Dominica, Jedd Joseph took 2 for 23, Savio Anslem 2 for 35, and Malakai Xavier 2 for 36, with a wicket apiece for Nigel Jno Lewis and Delany Alexander.

Grenada lost wickets at 46, 71, 121, 146, 146, 146, 166, 195, 197, all out 203.

Dominica in reply, despite a fighting 61 by Taj Tavernier, fell 51 runs short of the target – 152 all out. Malakai Xavier made 37, and Aanakym Moreau 13. Extras was a healthy 21 made of 2 byes, 4 leg-byes, 13 wides, and 2 no-balls.

Sunil Narayan grabbed 4 for 18, Rishaad Daniels 3 for 44, and Ronel Williams 1 for 22, as Dominica lost wickets at 08, 57, 132, 137, 139, 139, 150, 150, 150, all out 152, to give Grenada victory by 51 runs.

Over at Windsor Park, St. Vincent and the Grenadines won the toss and decided to take first strike, and were dismissed for 125 in 34 overs. Wickets fell at 00, 00, 41, 56, 63, 63, 86, 86, 122, all out 125.

Romando Browne top-scored with 32, Reynolson Hillocks 24, and Kemron Strough remained not out 17.  Bowling for Saint Lucia, Simeon Gerson took 4 for 17, Lee Solomon 4 for 22, and Jaden Elibox 2 for 24, with 17 extras delivered made of 1 bye, 14 wides, and 2 no-balls.

In response, Saint Lucia knocked off the required runs for the loss of 4 wickets, which fell at 31, 39, 70, and 113. Ackeem Auguste and Lee Xystus Emmanuel remained not out on 48 and 11 respectively, while Kimani Melius made 25, and Lee Solomon 11.

Kyle Bobb took 2 for 25, Kemron Strough 1 for 28, and Tijorn Pope 1 for 15. 12 extras were delivered made of 11 wides, and 1 no-ball as Saint Lucia secured their first win by six wickets.

Monday July 01, 2019 is a rest day, and on Tuesday July 02, 2019, Grenada and Saint Lucia clash at Benjamin’s Park, and at Windsor Park hosts Dominica and St. Vincent and the Grenadines will do battle; matches begin at 9:30 a.m.

ROSEAU, DOMINICA SATURDAY, June 29, 2019 – Hosts Dominica, and Grenada, won their opening matches in the WINLOTT 2019 Windward Islands Under-19 cricket tournament.

At Benjamin’s Park, Dominica defeated Saint Lucia by five wickets, after winning the toss and sending the Saint Lucians in to take first knock.

Vice-captain Ackeem Auguste top-scored with 43, Mateo Boulogne 29, and Tyrel Chicot 12, were the only batsmen to reach double figures; extras contributing 18 in a total of 119 off 31.5 overs.

The wickets were shared between two bowlers, in Savio Anslem who did majority of the damage taking 7 for 30 in 9.5 overs, and Lincoln Durand 3 for 27 in 8 overs, as wickets fell at 00, 16, 86, 88, 88, 91, 92, 94, 116, and 119.

In reply, Dominica posted 124 for 5 in 41 overs. Taj Tavernier top-scored with 42, Malakai Xavier 40, while Micah Joseph remained 16 not out, with extras contributing 20.

Wickets fell at 00, 16, 95, 103, and 110, with Jaden Elibox taking 2 for 20, Simeon Gerson 2 for 25, and Keygan Arnold 1 for 14, as Dominica won by 5 wickets.

Over at Windsor Park, Grenada won the toss and inserted St. Vincent and the Grenadines, who enjoyed a good opening stand of 69 between Jeheil Walters (26) and Carmalo Cain (30). Wickets fell at 69, 71, 82, 87, 102, 109, 112, 112, 136, all out for 138.

Bowling for Grenada, Rishaad Daniel took 6 for 30, Sunil Narayan 1 for 19, and Sylvon Charles 2 for 31, with 24 extras contributed.

In reply, Grenada lost an early wicket with the score on 06, and lost two more at 37, and 77. Teddy Bishop top-scored with 42, but Grenada captain Seandell Regis with 39 not out, and Tiron Charles 30 not out ensured there were not more alarms as Grenada went on to win by 7 wickets, totalling 139 for 3 of which 16 were extras.

Solomon Bascombe 1 for 13, Kemron Strough 1 for 35,  and Kyle Bobb 1 for 37, were the only wicket takers for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
